Welcome to BobaRO

Welcome to BobaRO, a Pre-Renewal mid-rate Ragnarok Online private server built for players who love the classic RO experience. Whether you are a veteran returning to Midgard or a brand-new adventurer, this guide will help you get set up and playing in minutes.

What is Pre-Renewal?

Pre-Renewal refers to the version of Ragnarok Online before the major "Renewal" update that changed combat formulas, stats, and class mechanics. Pre-Renewal preserves the original gameplay feel: simpler damage calculations, classic leveling curves, and the tried-and-true job advancement system that made RO famous. If you played RO during its golden era, this is the version you remember.

What is Mid-Rate?

Mid-rate servers offer experience and drop rates higher than the official servers but lower than high-rate servers. This means you can reach meaningful milestones faster without skipping the core leveling and gearing experience. You still earn your progress, but the journey respects your time.

Creating Your Account

To play on BobaRO you need a game account. Registration is free and takes less than a minute.

  1. Visit the Registration Page.
  2. Choose a username and a strong password. Your username is also your login ID inside the game client.
  3. Enter a valid email address in case you need to recover your account later.
  4. Pick your gender (this determines your base sprite in-game and can be changed later).
  5. Complete the form and click Register.
Protect Your Account
Never share your username or password with anyone, including players who claim to be GMs. BobaRO staff will never ask for your password. Use a unique password that you do not reuse on other sites.

Downloading the Client

Head over to the Downloads page to grab the game client. Two options are available:

  • Full Client — Includes all BGM, sprites, and maps. Recommended for first-time installs.
  • Lite Client — Smaller download with optional BGM. Good for players on limited bandwidth.

After downloading, extract the archive to a folder of your choice (for example C:\BobaRO) and run the patcher or launcher to receive the latest updates.

Connecting to the Server

The client is pre-configured with the correct server address, so you should be able to log in immediately after patching. If you need to verify or configure the connection manually, the details are:

Setting Value
Server IP 89.116.106.71
Login Port 6901
Character Port 6121
Map Port 5121

These values are stored in data/sclientinfo.xml inside your client folder.

Your First Steps

Character Creation

After logging in you can create up to several characters per account. Choose a name, adjust your hair style and color, and allocate your starting stat points. Every character begins as a Novice on the Novice Training Ground.

Picking a Class

Once your Novice reaches Base Level 10 and Job Level 10, you can change to your first job class. Visit the corresponding job NPC in Prontera or the town linked to your desired class. Check the Job Classes page for a full breakdown of every class and advancement path.

Novice Training Ground

The training ground introduces you to basic gameplay: moving, attacking, picking up items, equipping gear, and talking to NPCs. Complete it to receive some starter items and a free warp to Prontera, the capital city.
