Quest Overview

Quests are a core part of the Ragnarok Online experience. They provide EXP rewards, unlock access to dungeons and areas, grant unique headgear and items, and tell the story of the world of Midgard. On BobaRO, all classic Pre-Renewal quests are available through their original NPCs.

Some quests are essential for progression—entire dungeons are locked behind access quests that must be completed before you can enter. Others are optional but highly rewarding, offering powerful headgear or large EXP bonuses. This page covers the most important quest categories to help you prioritize.

Key Access Quests

The following quests unlock access to important dungeons and areas. Without completing these, you simply cannot enter these locations. Prioritize these as you reach the appropriate level range.

Unlocks one of the hardest and most rewarding dungeons in the game.
Lighthalzen Dungeon Quest	Lighthalzen Dungeon (upper floors)	80+	Part of the Biolabs chain. Completing different stages of the quest unlocks access to successively deeper floors of the laboratory. Floor 3 contains the most powerful monsters (and drops) in Pre-Renewal.
Nameless Island Quest	Nameless Island & Abbey Dungeon	75+	A multi-part quest starting in the Rune-Midgarts Library. Requires investigating an ancient expedition, collecting clues, and eventually sailing to the Nameless Island. Unlocks the Abbey dungeon, which is the premier leveling spot for levels 80–99.
Rachel Sanctuary Quest	Rachel Sanctuary	75+	Begins in Rachel town. Involves the storyline of the Arunafeltz religion and the goddess Freya. Requires talking to multiple NPCs and gathering items. Unlocks a high-level Holy-type monster dungeon with great EXP.
Juperos Ruins Quest	Juperos Dungeon	70+	Starts in Juno (Yuno). Centers around the ancient mechanical ruins beneath the floating city. Involves collecting parts and investigating ancient technology. Unlocks a dungeon with mechanical monsters that give excellent EXP.
Thanatos Tower Quest	Thanatos Tower (upper floors)	80+	A group quest that requires a party to progress. The tower has multiple floors, each requiring party members to stand on switches and solve puzzles simultaneously. Unlocks the upper floors where the Thanatos MVP resides.
Kiel Hyre Quest	Kiel Hyre Dungeon	70+	An extensive storyline quest following the mystery of the Kiel Hyre Academy. Involves investigation, puzzle solving, and multiple NPC interactions across several maps. Unlocks the Kiel Hyre dungeon with Aliots and Kiel-D-01 MVP.
Thor Volcano Base Quest	Thor Volcano Dungeon	80+	Starts near the Thor Volcano base camp. Requires collecting specific items and talking to researchers. Unlocks one of the highest-EXP dungeons in Pre-Renewal, but also one of the most dangerous (Fire-element monsters throughout).

Headgear Quests

One of the most enjoyable aspects of Ragnarok Online is collecting headgears. Many headgears are obtained by completing quests that involve gathering specific monster drops and materials, then bringing them to a crafting NPC. These headgears are purely cosmetic in many cases, but some provide useful stat bonuses.

Job Change Quests

Every class advancement in Ragnarok Online requires completing a job change quest. These quests test your knowledge of your chosen class and often involve skill-based challenges.

Job Change Progression

Stage	From	To	Requirement
First Job Change	Novice	Swordman, Mage, Archer, Thief, Acolyte, Merchant	Job Level 10. Talk to the job NPC in the corresponding guild hall.
Second Job Change	First Class	Knight, Crusader, Wizard, Sage, Hunter, Bard/Dancer, Assassin, Rogue, Priest, Monk, Blacksmith, Alchemist	Job Level 40–50. Complete the class-specific job change quest.
Rebirth	Second Class (99/50)	High Novice	Base Level 99, Job Level 50. Talk to the Rebirth NPC.
High First Job	High Novice	High Swordman, High Mage, etc.	Job Level 10. Same guild NPCs as first job change.
Transcendent Job	High First Class	Lord Knight, Paladin, High Wizard, Scholar, Sniper, Clown/Gypsy, Assassin Cross, Stalker, High Priest, Champion, Whitesmith, Creator	Job Level 40–50. Talk to the transcendent job change NPC (usually simplified).

Repeatable Quests

Some quests in Ragnarok Online can be completed more than once, making them an excellent supplementary source of EXP alongside regular grinding. These are especially useful during level ranges where map grinding feels slow.

Bounty Board / Hunting Quests

Bounty Board NPCs (found in major towns) assign you a target monster and a quantity to kill. Once you hunt the required number, return to the NPC for an EXP reward. These are repeatable and scale with your level.

• Rewards scale based on your level and the difficulty of the target monster.
• Can be done alongside normal grinding—just go to a map with the target monster and farm as usual.
• Great for adding bonus EXP on top of your regular leveling routine.

Turn-in Quests

Various NPCs around the world will exchange specific monster drops for EXP or items. Common examples include:

• Garbage Collection (Prontera) — Trade monster drops for small EXP rewards. Good for low-level players.
• Juice Maker (various towns) — Trade fruits and herbs for juice items and small EXP.
• Ore Turn-ins — Some NPCs accept Rough Oridecon, Rough Elunium, or other ores for EXP.
• Fur Seal Quest (Alberta) — Trade specific items for moderate EXP. Repeatable daily.
